With the H1N1 influenza virus spreading across the United States, Rep. Velázquez urges New Yorkers to educate themselves about the flu and the steps they should take to minimize their risk of infection.

If you have concerns about H1N1 influenza, please call 311 in New York City or visit the City’s website for details about where to get vaccinated and how to protect your family during this year’s flu season.

For more information, visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.

On November 21-22, the New York City Health Department will conduct H1N1 vaccination clinics in all five boroughs. People in the following groups will be able to receive the vaccine at these clinics:

    · Pregnant women
    · Anyone 4 through 24 years old
    · People 25 through 64 with health conditions that make influenza more dangerous
    · Anyone who lives with or cares for children less than 6 months old
    · Health care workers who have direct contact with patients and cannot receive vaccine through their employers.
