Velázquez on the 20th of 9/11 Attacks
New York, NY—Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez released the following statement on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks:
“As any New Yorker will tell you, 9/11 is ingrained into our lives forever. So many remember where they were that morning, and the shock and trauma lives on in many of us. On this solemn 20th anniversary of the attacks, we remember all the innocent lives lost; for each was someone’s father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, or child.
“We pay tribute to the brave first responders who arrived on the scene and immediately got to work to save others amidst the rubble, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice. Congress owes it to the all the first responder survivors to continue to fund critical health care and assistance programs like the World Trade Center Health Program.
“Even on the darkest of days, our City’s resilience and strength cannot be dimmed. May it bring some comfort to those grieving today that I and so many other Americans hold you in our hearts and prayers.”
