Velázquez on Passing of Enrique Fernández Toledo

Washington, DC – Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) released the following statement regarding the passing of Enrique Fernández Toledo:

"Throughout his life, Enrique was a steadfast voice for progress and justice for the people of Puerto Rico. During his two decades as a staffer for my colleague, Luis Gutierrez, he made countless contributions to Puerto Rico policies. All of us in Congress who care deeply about the Island came to rely on his insight and advice. Later, the Center for American Progress, and especially following Hurricane Maria he was a fierce advocate for helping our fellow citizens access the assistance they deserve. Puerto Rico has lost a beloved son and I've lost a friend. I hope his wife Mayra, his children, his entire family, and the many who loved him can take solace in how many lives he touched."
