Velázquez on Trump Administration’s Cruel Assault on Reproductive Health
Washington, DC –Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) issued the following statement today regarding the Trump Administration’s rollback of a federal mandate requiring employers to cover basic contraception in their employee’s health insurance plans:
“This decision by the Trump Administration constitutes an assault on a woman’s fundamental right to autonomy, by handing over their most personal decisions to employers. No one should be forced to choose between paying grocery bills and affording contraception, yet this measure will leave countless women scrambling to afford basic reproductive health care services.
“Instead of ripping apart the Affordable Care Act, Republicans must work across the aisle to ensure that women, families and all Americans receive the comprehensive health care they deserve.”
