Velázquez on White House Syria Announcement

Washington, DC – Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) made the following statement regarding the President's announcement on Syria:

"I find it reckless that the President would cast aside our Kurdish allies in a cynical effort to appease an authoritarian regime in Turkey. Equally alarming, this erratic foreign policy can create a regional power vacuum that could be filled by Iran and Russia, while undermining our credibility among allies and adversaries alike. I agree with my bipartisan colleagues who have made clear this is no way to conduct national security strategy. I hope the Administration revisits this decision and sees the errors of its ways."
