Washington, DC –Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-N.Y.) today sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi regarding her opposition to H.R. 2499, Puerto Rico status legislation introduced in the 111th Congress by Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi. Velázquez does not support the bill because it would not allow the people of Puerto Rico to establish the process by which the island’s status would be determined.
Washington, DC – The U.S. House of Representatives today approved $700,000 to benefit youth development efforts in New York’s 12th Congressional District. Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives today approved the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act (H.R. 1728) to protect consumers by curbing abusive lending practices.
