Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) and Rep. Jamaal Bowman, Ed.D (D-NY) reintroduced the Healthy Future Students and Earth Pilot Program Act. This bill would create a voluntary grant program for school districts to help schools provide healthier, climate friendly, and culturally appropriate plant-based entrée options to students.

Warren Davidson (R-OH) introduced the Clarifying Law Around Insurance Marijuana, or CLAIM Act, which would prevent federal criminal prosecution of insurers and end civil liability for brokers, agents, and insurers that deal with companies in the cannabis sector.

Velázquez (D-NY) and Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) urged the Federal Reserve, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) to finalize Section 956 of the Dodd-Frank Act, which governs executive incentive-based compensation arrangements, before the end of the year.

Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) introduced a House resolution expressing support for the designation of the week of April 9, 2023, through April 15, 2023, as National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Week. The resolution highlights the contributions of Young Audiences Arts for Learning in promoting arts education and recognizes the impact of the arts on youth development.

Washington, DC — Today, U.S. Reps. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), Grace Meng (D-NY), and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) applauded the United States Department of Agriculture’s decision to approve New York State’s plan to reimburse Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients who had their benefits stolen. With the approval of the plan, New York can now process household claims of stolen benefits and reimburse households using Federal funds.
