WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) introduced the No Masks for ICE Act to bar Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from wearing facial coverings during enforcement actions and requiring them to wear clothing displaying their name and affiliation with ICE.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) led nine members of New York’s Congressional delegation in a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie urging the immediate passage of the New York for All Act. The legislation would prohibit collaboration between local and state government agencies and federal immigration enforcement, helping to protect immigrant families in New York from Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda.

Washington, DC – As the Trump Administration continues unconstitutional deportations, Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) have introduced the Police not ICE Act of 2025 to prohibit immigration officers from wearing any clothing bearing the word “police.” The bill would apply to entities like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).

WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee, introduced new bicameral legislation to help small businesses comply with beneficial ownership reporting requirements under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and push back against the Trump administration’s efforts to weaken the law. She was joined in the House by Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee.

Velázquez (D- NY) led five members in urging the House Appropriations Committee to direct the Treasury Department to report on Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) efforts to identify and address tax avoidance under Puerto Rico’s Acts 22 and 20 (now consolidated into Act 60), and to estimate federal revenue losses attributable to these laws.

“Republicans waited until the middle of the night to advance this bill because they know how deeply unpopular it is. While families were sleeping, they pushed through a cruel package that gives tax breaks to the wealthy and strips away support from the people who need it most. Simply put, this bill is a betrayal of working families.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) led five colleagues in a letter urging the House Appropriations Committee requesting an end to federal funding for the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) use of private prison facilities. The lawmakers also called for a ban on transferring phased-out Department of Justice prison contracts to ICE for immigration enforcement.

The resolution highlights the contributions of Young Audiences Arts for Learning in promoting arts education and recognizes the impact of the arts on youth development.

Washington D.C. - Today, Representatives Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) sent a letter to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to stop the reduction in force (RIF) and reorganization plans at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) impacting FDA’s San Juan Medical Products Laboratory (SJNLMP).
