Washington, D.C. – Two Members of the U.S. House of Representatives have introduced legislation aimed at ending a predatory commercial lending practice that, according to media reports, has harmed many small businesses in recent years.

Maloney (NY-12), and Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), today led a letter to Federal Aviation Administration Acting Administrator Daniel Elwell, urging the FAA to ban all non-essential helicopter flights over New York City. Joining the Members on the letter are Reps. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Kathleen M. Rice (NY-04), Grace Meng (NY-06), Thomas R. Suozzi (NY-03), Eliot L. Engel (NY-16), and José E. Serrano (NY-15).

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives has approved an amendment authored by Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) aimed at advancing the cleanup of Caño Martín Peña, a 3.7-mile channel in San Juan that has long been plagued with environmental problems.

Washington, D.C. – The House Committee on Financial Services has approved a measure authored by Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) that would reform the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and better help policyholders receive compensation under their policies after flooding damage.
"Following Hurricane Sandy, New Yorkers saw up close many problems in the flood insurance program," Velázquez said. "This legislation makes targeted changes so the program works more efficiently and, policyholders receive timely payment on their claims."
