Washington, D.C.— Today, Representatives Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), Barbara Lee (D-CA), and Ted Lieu (D-CA) led a letter to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Daniel Werfel calling on the agency to use its authority to ensure greater accountability for nonprofit hospitals contributing to the medical debt crisis impacting over 100 million individuals living in the US.

Washington, DC— Today, Representatives Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) and Susan Wild (D-PA) led 14 Members of Congress in sending a letter to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken calling for the declassification of documents related to the Brazilian dictatorship period from 1964 until 1985. The letter comes in the wake of the 60th anniversary of the Brazilian coup d’etat on March 31st- April 1st, which initiated the Brazilian military dictatorship.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Reps. Grace Meng (NY-06), Nydia M. Velázquez (NY-07), and Gregory Meeks (NY-05) announced today a federal grant totaling $117,696,000 for the QueensWay project in Queens.

Funded by the Inflation Reduction Act and awarded through the Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods program, this Neighborhood and Access and Equity grant supports the design and construction of the Forest Park Pass section of the project.
