Washington, DC – More than one hundred members of the U.S. House of Representatives have written the Trump Administration's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), opposing a rule change that would reverse previous nondiscrimination protections based on sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, or religion. Led by Reps. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), Angie Craig (D-MN) and Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) the Members of Congress called for the rule change's withdrawal, saying its approval would open the floodgates to discrimination in HHS programs.

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) announced legislation that would provide free transit benefits to some of New York's most vulnerable demographics, including seniors, people with disabilities and those whose income is 300% or less of the poverty line. The "Transportation Equity Act" authorizes $1 billion each year to help public transit agencies, around the nation, provide these benefits.

Velázquez (D-NY) that would help companies operating in Puerto Rico and the other U.S. territories to export their products abroad. Velázquez's legislation, the Office of Territorial Exporting Act, passed as part of H.R. 4863, House Democrats' larger bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank.

Washington, DC –The House Financial Services Committee has approved legislation authored by Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) that would end a predatory commercial lending practice. The bill, H.R. 3490, the "Small Business Lending Fairness Act," would amend the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) to restrict the use of predatory contract clauses called "confessions of judgment," which are often used in small business loans.

Velázquez (D-NY) that would help companies operating in Puerto Rico and the other U.S. territories to export their products abroad. Passed as part of a larger bill reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank, her measure would establish a new office aimed at conducing outreach and education to exporting businesses, helping ensure they can access financial assistance offered by the Bank.
